Chesterfield deputies, staff participate in Special Olympic torch run

The Chesterfield Sheriff’s Office along with members of the Chesterfield Police Department, participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics of Virginia last Friday. Participants ran with Jenna, one of the Special Olympic athletes, who was celebrating her birthday. Another special guest who provided support throughout the race was Lexi, a special part of the sheriff’s office family. Sheriff Karl Leonard would like to thank the staff of the SunTrust Bank and Wawa on Ironbridge Road for providing water and snacks at rest stops along the route. Several participants also took place in the final leg of the Torch Run route at the University of Richmond that evening for the Summer Games Opening Ceremony.
