Virginia Sheriffs' Institute
Supporting Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

The Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute (VSI) Scholarship Program was established to provide an opportunity for young people across Virginia to pursue an educational curriculum in law enforcement or criminal justice. Accordingly, the VSI’s Board of Directors has established the application process for students to receive scholarships to assist in their educational endeavors. The scholarships are available only to students in jurisdictions where sheriffs participate in the VSI’s fundraising efforts. Therefore, students in your jurisdiction are eligible to receive this scholarship. This program is limited to students attending Virginia colleges and universities.

VSI only accepts online applications from students. The Board relies on sheriffs and deputies to publicize the scholarship program to students in their jurisdictions. The application deadline for the 2021-2022 school year is May 1, 2021. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered. It is necessary for students to submit a letter of recommendation from you for each completed application online.

The 2021-2022 online application is available on the VSI website by clicking HERE. Students will be required to log-in to the online application system to complete their application. All required documents and information will need to be uploaded into the online application system for the application to be complete, including your letter.
