Supporting Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

The U.S. Department of Justice announced the award of $603,472 to Fairfax County, Virginia, to reimburse some of the salary costs associated with incarcerating undocumented aliens who have committed serious crimes in the United States. The funds come from the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP), which provides federal payments to enhance public safety.

The Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office was one of only 865 (out of 3,140) eligible entities across the U.S. that successfully applied for these funds to help supplement this local tax burden.

With the assistance of Justice Benefits, Inc. (JBI), Fairfax County was able to maximize its dollar amount for reimbursement. JBI is a public sector consulting firm located in Dallas, Texas, specializing in locating and accessing hard-to-find federal reimbursements for local and state entities.
