Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office crime analyst receives international certification

Kristi House CA CertificationSheriff Robert Mosier is proud to announce that his office’s Crime Analyst Kristi House has been awarded an international certification as a Certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst.  House successfully completed a program of study in Crime and Intelligence Analysis at California State University, Sacramento University Extended Education through the Alpha Group Center.

Over the past year and a half, House studied Intelligence Analysis, Investigative Analysis, Research Methods and Crime Analysis Applications. She was presented with her certificate by Sheriff Mosier on Thursday, July 28, 2016. House is also a member of the Virginia Crime Analysis Network and International Association of Crime Analysts.

Crime Analysts in modern law enforcement are very important. The analysis of data and intelligence information is increasingly valued by the law enforcement community and is integral to the overall mission and efficient use of resources. Crime Analysts review all law enforcement reports daily with the goal of identifying patterns as they emerge. Analysis of trends and patterns and hot spots in the community provides deputies and detectives with the who, what, when, where, how and why of emerging crime. They can use this information and data to develop effective strategies and tactics to intervene and reduce further crime and victimization. Crime Analysts apply criminal intelligence analysis tactics to local problems such as burglaries, gangs and drugs.

House has already been key to developing and linking local intelligence. This important aspect helps reduce and solve crimes by knowing when local intelligence or information fits with other local, state, national or international intelligence. By using her training and knowledge of local crime analysis, House has been responsible for helping solve recent burglaries and providing important information for court presentation.

House is a native of Fauquier County and graduated from Fauquier High School in 2005. She graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and a minor in Sociology. After graduating she joined the Sheriff’s Office as an Emergency Communications Specialist and received many certifications and honors in that role. In 2014 she joined the Criminal Investigations Division to become the first Crime Analyst. In her spare time she volunteers with the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department and is an EMT.

The Fauquier Sheriff’s Office is very proud of House’s accomplishment. She has taken the new position of Crime Analyst and successfully built this assignment into an integral part of the daily and overall mission of the Sheriff’s Office.
