The Virginia Correctional Association (VCA) recently honored Petersburg Sheriff Vanessa Crawford with its ‘Lifetime Career Achievement’ award.
The VCA held it’s annual conference October 5-7 in Richmond with the theme, “Best Practices in Criminal Justice.” The conference addressed the influence the organization has to strengthen the corrections profession locally, regionally and nationally. The VCA’s commitment to promoting an effective criminal justice system is a spark that keeps its members focused on professional development as well as both personal and professional growth opportunities for its members.
Conference speakers included among others in the criminal justice arena: the Honorable Cleo Powell, Supreme Court Justice; the Honorable Henry Hudson, Federal Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia; Keith Parker, CEO of the MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) and Olympic Gold Medalist Marion Jones.
