Lt J. Stafford and Lt K. Washington pose with their students after lunch

The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office took part in ‘Mayor’s Youth Day,’ in which representatives from city departments are shadowed by local high school students. The goal is to educate students about the function of government and open their eyes to different career options. The sheriff’s office made four students honorary members of the office for the day. They were paired up with a Public Information Officer, the Director of Training, the Court Services Lieutenant and the Civil Enforcement Lieutenant. The Lieutenants gave the students a tour of the jail then let them experience an average day in the different sections (administration, courts, civil enforcement, training, etc.). The teens had a lot of fun, networked with the deputies and then went out for lunch.
