Sheriff C.T. Woody is pleased to announce that the Richmond City Sheriff’s Office received a 100% rating on an unannounced Virginia Department of Corrections (DOC) Life, Health, and Safety audit. “Today’s results of this unannounced audit show that the Richmond City Sheriff’s Office is committed at all times to the life, health, and safety of all those who are incarcerated here at the Richmond City Justice Center.” Sheriff Woody said. “The Virginia Department of Corrections sets high standards and expectations for the living conditions of those who find themselves incarcerated in any correctional facility in the commonwealth. I am proud to command a staff which adheres to those expectations and standards every day, and that is ready at a moment’s notice to have our facility inspected, with positive results.” The Life, Health, and Safety audit is performed annually by DOC, and inspects departments in a correctional facility including Jail Operations, Staff and Support, and Training. The Richmond City Sheriff’s Office received a 100% rating on its Life, Health, and Safety audit in 2016, and will undergo another audit in 2018.
