Virginia Sheriffs' Institute
Supporting Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

The Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute (VSI) Scholarship Program was established to provide an opportunity for young people across Virginia to pursue an educational curriculum in law enforcement or criminal justice. Accordingly, the VSI’s Board of Directors has established the application process for students to receive scholarships to assist in their educational endeavors. The scholarships are available only to students in jurisdictions where sheriffs participate in the VSI’s fundraising efforts. This program is limited to students attending Virginia colleges and universities.

VSI only accepts online applications. The application deadline for the 2019-2020 school year is May 1, 2019.  Applications submitted online after this deadline will not be considered. It is necessary for resident sheriffs to submit a letter of recommendation for each completed online application.

The 2019 online application is available on the VSI website by clicking HERE. Students will be required to log-in into the online application system to compete their application.  All required documents and information will need to be uploaded into the application for the application to be complete.
