The Hampton Sheriff’s Office recently awarded the 2020 Virginia Sheriff’s Institute Scholarship to DeLeigh Steele. The scholarship program provides an opportunity for students to pursue an educational curriculum in Criminal Justice while attending a Virginia college or university.
DeLeigh is exemplary in the classroom and is involved in numerous extra-curricular activities at her school and in her community. She has been a member of the Heritage High School’s Marching Band, the Art Club, and Students Against Destructive Decision for three years. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars for two years.
She maintains a 3.76 GPA and ranks 12th in her class of 238 students. DeLeigh plans to attend George Mason University in the fall. Her goal is to work for the federal government as a Forensic Scientist. Congratulations, DeLeigh! We wish you the very best.
