Supporting Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

It is with a heavy heart that the Staunton Sheriff’s Office informs the community that K9 Deputy Cara was injured in the line of duty on Monday, December 21, during a call out. Cara was injured from a fall and was rushed to the Emergency Vet in Verona, but was unable to overcome her injuries. Cara will be missed by the Sheriff’s Office family, her handler Captain Ryan Insana, and the community.

Cara was known for her friendly demeanor. She never met a stranger, and did not have a mean bone in her body. She loved everyone, especially the kids she met.  Please keep the Staunton Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
