Mia Bashore, a 2018 graduate of New Kent High School and current junior at Virginia Commonwealth University, was awarded the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute scholarship by New Kent County Sheriff J. Joe McLaughlin Jr. The scholarship is presented to a student who is pursuing studies in the criminal justice or public safety field.
