Hampton Sheriff Karen Bowden recently awarded the 2021 Virginia Sheriff’s Institute’s $1,000 scholarship to Jacob Flicek. The Virginia Sheriffs’ Institutes’ Scholarship program provides an opportunity for students to pursue an educational curriculum in Criminal Justice while attending a Virginia college or university. Jacob is a Bethel High School graduate and a student of the Hampton City School’s Law Enforcement Academy. Jacob ranks 30th in his class and maintains a 4.08 GPA. He is a six year member of the National Honor Society. Jacob is also a four year member of the Bethel High School Varsity Baseball team. Jacob will attend Radford University in the fall and plans to work with the FBI as a federal agent or a Virginia State Trooper.
