You know about March Madness, but how about March for Meals?
Newport News Sheriff Gabe Morgan delivered meals to homebound seniors again this year to raise awareness for the Meals On Wheels program. Morgan and other community leaders, including State Senator Monty Mason (D-1st District), met organizers at lunch time to pick up the meals and plan their deliveries.

At each stop, Sheriff Morgan spent a little time talking with recipients to find out how they were doing.  Officials say eight out of ten Meals on Wheels programs are delivering more meals now than they were before the pandemic.  COVID and the increase in food prices make this program more important than ever.

Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to deliver meals.  Volunteers use their own vehicles and the mileage driven is tax deductible. To learn more about volunteering with a Meals on Wheels program near you, check out the FAQ:  https://www.mealsonwheelsamerica.org/americaletsdolunch/faqs
