The Newport News Sheriff’s Office got into the Christmas spirit early, donating three dozen shoebox-size boxes filled with toys, school supplies, and essential items to Operation Christmas Child – it has become a tradition.
The boxes were filled and then taken to a drop-off location. From there, the boxes will be checked, processed, and readied for shipment by Samaritan’s Purse. Children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease around the world and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S. will receive them.
Captain C. Vincent made sure the boxes got to the drop-off point in plenty of time.
“Last year we put together 26 boxes, so this year I aimed for more and we produced 35 boxes. Next year, I hope to be blessed and able to produce many more,” she said.
That’s the NNSO spirit – making a difference for those who are less fortunate this holiday season.
