RECOGNITION FOR YEARS OF SERVICE

Sheriff Overton would like to thank Roger Hilfer for 11 years of dedicated service to the County of Franklin and the Office of the Sheriff. Roger began with our department through the Citizens on Patrol Program, then soon moved into a part-time employee position working with the Trustees for Road Beautification Projects throughout the county. During his tenure, Roger (and his wife, Susan) have both selflessly served in a volunteer capacity with our Citizens on Patrol and Project Lifesaver programs.  We are thankful to have such great members of our community to partner with and give back!

SCAM ALERT

The Office of the Sheriff issued a warning that people in our area continue to receive SCAM TELEPHONE CALLS from individuals claiming to be from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office,  telling residents that they missed jury duty and need to pay a fine to avoid arrest. Sometimes, the impersonators claim the resident’s credit card was denied, then direct them to what appears to be a legitimate link to make a payment.

DO NOT share payment, financial, or personal information over the phone with anyone claiming to be from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. As a reminder, WE will never ask for money or financial information over the phone. If in doubt, hang up and call our non-emergency line back to request to speak to a deputy to verify. That number is 540-483-3000.

SHINING STARS – INVESTIGATIONS

Sheriff Overton recognized two of our members of the Investigations Division for their dedication and hard work on various cases in 2023. Investigator Steve McFarling and Investigator Holly Willoughby both have an incredible amount of experience in the investigations field, with a combined 40+ years of service!

The Office of the Sheriff is thankful to have such a great team of individuals serving the County of Franklin!
