The Petersburg and Sussex Sheriff’s Offices partnered to hold a “Cover the Cruiser” fundraising event in Petersburg on August 23, 2023 to raise money for Special Olympics Virginia. Community members were encouraged to stop by the Wawa on Crater Road, and for every $1 donation that was made, a Torch Run icon was placed on the windshield of a Sheriff’s Office cruiser. The goal was to cover the entire cruiser with icons.

All told, the Sheriff’s offices raised $750.83 in this one-day event. The proceeds will provide Special Olympics sports, health, and school community building programs. Thank you to everyone who donated to the cause, and Wawa in Petersburg for allowing us to hold the event at your store.
