On January 2, 2024, the Petersburg TRIAD had its first outing of the year. TRIAD is the senior citizen crime prevention program sponsored by the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office. Approximately 90 seniors and Sheriff Vanessa R. Crawford traveled to the Cinema Café in Chester, Virginia to see the movie, “The Color Purple.” The movie has received positive reviews from critics and has grossed $47 million. The seniors enjoyed themselves as they watched the movie while at the same time, enjoying a delicious meal. The film has earned several accolades such as a Golden Globe Award nomination and five nominations at the 29th Critics’ Choice Awards, including Best Picture.
