On January 10, 2024, Sheriff Kyle M. Moore of the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office held a ceremony to honor several employees for their promotions and outstanding contributions to the department. The event recognized both professional advancements and acts of exceptional service, highlighting the dedication of the Sheriff’s Office team to the community they serve.

Promotions:

  • Deputies William Clark, Robert Gillespie, David Creedon, and Evan Soto were promoted to the rank of Corporal and will now serve as assistant shift supervisors in the Patrol Division.
  • Deputy Barry Schell was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and will take on responsibilities as a shift supervisor for the Patrol Division.
  • Sergeant Kenneth Curry was promoted to First Sergeant and will continue to lead as the K-9 Commander while serving as a key link between the Patrol Division and Administrative Staff.

Employee Recognitions:

  • Dispatcher Sue Whiting was recognized as Support Staff Employee of the Year.
  • Corrections Deputy T.J. Smallwood was honored as the Regional Jail Employee of the Year.
  • Deputy Kendall Browning and Nurse Supervisor Rojenna Morgan received Certificates of Appreciation for their quick and decisive actions to ensure that a jail detainee received urgent medical care. Their efforts, which included returning the individual to the hospital for a CT scan, potentially saved the person’s life.

The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office continues to exemplify excellence in service and leadership.
