Captain Celeste Hoyos, Chief of Administration, and Leah Stith, Executive Assistant to Sheriff Moore of the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office, proudly joined the All District Reads initiative to promote family literacy. Recently, they read Chapter 2 of Little Rhino by Ryan and Krystal Howard. Each community partner had to read a chapter aloud, creating a shared experience that fosters literacy and fuels a lifelong love of reading. This reading partnership was video recorded by Patrick Belcher, of PBJ Marcomm. The program reaches Kindergarten through 5th grade students, giving books and encouraging reading in their homes and classrooms. In particular, the program aims to support low-income families who may not have regular access to books, ensuring that every child can enjoy the transformative power of reading.
