On Saturday April 26, 2025, Sheriff Donald T. Sloan and members of the Lynchburg Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Horizon Behavioral Health participated in the Drug Take Back Event. Three teams of deputies along with representatives from Horizon set up drop-off displays at the Kroger stores located at 2012 Wards Road, 4119 Boonesboro Road, and 7805 Timberlake Road.
The Deputies handed out information about drug awareness while the Horizon Behavioral Health representative handed out drug lock boxes, provided Narcan training, and handed out information on suicide prevention. Members of the Sheriff’s Office also handed out information and held demonstrations of the Lynchburg Project Lifesaver program. All told, the event resulted in the collection of 261.36 pounds of drugs (88.88 lbs. Kroger – Wards Rd, 54.56 lbs. Kroger – Boonsboro, 117.92 lbs. Kroger – Timberlake).
