Sheriff Vanessa R. Crawford and the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office proudly congratulate Deputy Neil
Smith and Deputy Timika Cousins on their successful graduation from the 114th Session of the Basic Jailors Academy at the Crater Criminal Justice Academy. Deputies Smith and Cousins completed fourteen weeks of rigorous training designed to educate, challenge, and prepare them for their roles in law enforcement and corrections. Their training included both classroom instruction and hands-on practice, covering areas such as: Legal studies and ethics, Firearms proficiency, Defensive tactics, non-lethal weapon applications, and a variety of other critical skills essential for their duties.
Both deputies bring diverse and inspiring backgrounds to the department, adding significant value to the agency. Their dedication and commitment reflect the highest standards of the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Crawford expressed her pride and excitement in welcoming Deputies Smith and Cousins back to the team, highlighting the knowledge, training, and experience they now bring to their roles.
“Their hard work and determination throughout the academy have prepared them to serve with excellence,” Sheriff Crawford stated. “We are proud to have them return with enhanced skills and a deepened commitment to serving our community.”
