On June 6, 2025, members of the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, including our Honor Guard, proudly took part in the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games. Sheriff Karl Leonard had the honor of lighting the ceremonial cauldron alongside an inspiring athlete, officially marking the start of the games.
Earlier that day, deputies joined members of the Chesterfield Police Department for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, helping to carry the Flame of Hope as it made its way toward the University of Richmond. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our supporters who provided water and snacks at rest stops and to all along the route who cheered us on with waves and encouragement.
