On June 6, 2025, representatives from the King George County Sheriff’s Office joined law enforcement agencies from across the Commonwealth at the University of Richmond for the opening ceremonies of the 2025 Virginia Special Olympics Summer Games. Deputy Thompson ran the final leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run into the stadium, marking a powerful moment of unity and celebration.
Sgt. Shriver, Major Weston, Sgt. Eves, and Deputy Mekalainas took part in the athlete receiving line, standing in honor as participants made their way into the stadium to kick off the Games.
