Supporting Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

The Chesapeake Correctional Center’s Small Engine Repair is giving participants the tools to rebuild their lives. Since 2019, they’ve been learning how to work on 2- and 4-stroke engines, gaining hands-on experience under the guidance of Master Deputy Rodriguez.

When they finish, participants earn a nationally recognized STIHL Bronze Level Certification, opening the door to real job opportunities after release. Programs like this are part of Sheriff Rosado’s ongoing effort to reduce recidivism, helping individuals leave the correctional center with skills, confidence, and a plan for success.

Recent Small Engine Repair graduate Jason Kellijan hopes to take his new skills and certificate to build a career, create a stable future, and prove that second chances can lead to success.
