On Saturday, August 9, 2025, the City of Petersburg came together in celebration as Calvary Temple Church marked its 60th Church Anniversary with a lively and spirited parade. The procession traveled the full length of West Washington Street, beginning at Crater Road and concluding at North Dunlop Street, where the church is located.
The event was proudly led by the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office, with participants including fellow local churches, the Petersburg Fire Department, energetic dance teams, and nearby law enforcement agencies. Spectators lined the streets to enjoy the colorful displays, music, and fellowship as the community celebrated the church’s six decades of service, faith, and outreach.
“It was an honor for the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office to lead this celebration,” said Sheriff Vanessa R. Crawford. “Calvary Temple Church has been a pillar of faith and service in our city for 60 years, and events like this remind us how faith-based organizations strengthen the very fabric of our community.”
The Petersburg Sheriff’s Office values opportunities to partner with community institutions in events that promote unity, pride, and tradition. The 60th Anniversary Parade not only honored Calvary Temple’s history but also celebrated the bonds that connect Petersburg’s residents.
