Supporting Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

On September 4th, Sheriff David D. Miles and the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office hosted a Human Trafficking Awareness Forum that highlighted the breadth of human trafficking throughout the Hampton Roads region. This forum focused on educating and connecting local community members on the prevalent dangers our neighbors face, specifically children and young adults. Alongside our fellow Suffolk Police Department and Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, the forum featured special guest speakers from Freekind, The Safe House Project, Lauryn Eason of Regent University School of Law, Deanna Wallace of the Department of Homeland Security, and Tanya Gould of the Office of the Virginia Attorney General. This impactful forum not only provided our community with the necessary information on how to recognize and combat human trafficking, but also how to connect with local resources and agencies.
