The Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office has been busy on several fronts. Deputies recently apprehended two suspects following a multi-jurisdictional pursuit of a stolen vehicle originating in Manassas, with assistance from Orange County deputies and Virginia State Police. Sheriff Timothy W. Chilton credited interagency cooperation and the safe deployment of spike strips for bringing the incident to a successful resolution.
In addition, the Office celebrated the graduation of its latest K-9 Academy class following 10 weeks of intensive training led by Lt. Bryant Arrington, and hosted Week 4 of its Citizen’s Academy, giving participants an inside look at jail operations and the daily work of the agency’s Jail Division staff.
Pursuit Ends Safely Following Multi-Agency Response
On October 29, 2025, Culpeper County deputies received information regarding a stolen vehicle out of Manassas, Va in the area of Braggs Corner Rd.
CCSO Deputies located the stolen vehicle after a brief canvass of the area behind the Martins Grocery Store in the Town of Culpeper. Deputy Burnett attempted a felony/high risk stop on the stolen vehicle in which the vehicle took off, and a pursuit was initiated.
CCSO Deputies continued the pursuit onto Rt.666 onto Stevensburg Rd towards the Brandy Station area of Culpeper County. The pursuit continued through the Brandy Station area onto Carrico Mills Rd towards Germanna Hwy where Deputy Millson deployed his department issued stinger spike strips and successfully spiked the fleeing vehicle. The fleeing vehicle continued east bound on Germanna Hwy towards Orange and Spotsylvania Counties.
An Orange County Deputy attempted another deployment of spikes, but was unsuccessful after the vehicle drove around them, dangerously close to the deputy. At this time a large contingent of Virginia State Troopers had joined the pursuit in hopes of bringing it to a faster resolve as it was headed towards Fredericksburg.
The driver continued at high rate of speed even after the left side tires had completely come off the rims. The vehicle continued on Germanna Highway into Spotsylvania County where it lost control due to the lack of tires at the intersection of Brock Rd and Germanna Hwy. The driver hit the rear end of a vehicle waiting on the stoplight.
The driver was identified as Ms. Cindy Martinez and passenger, Daezairon Jones both of Manassas. Both individuals were safely taken into custody and were transported by EMS to the hospital for minor injuries and were later discharged. A search of the vehicle yielded suspected narcotics and charges are pending upon lab results. Martinez was charged with felony eluding (46.2-817), possession of stolen vehicle (18.2-109), Driving suspended (46.2-301) and was held without bail. The passenger, Daezairon Jones was found to be wanted on charges related to the stolen vehicle and was also found to be wanted by Fauquier Sheriff’s Office for Larceny.
Mr. Jones was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle (Va Code 18.2-109). “Interagency cooperation, training, and the use of spike strips brought this to a safe resolution. In my almost 30 years this was the first female driver in a pursuit that I can remember. As I got close to this a number of times today it was apparent we had to stop this before we entered a traffic heavy area. You can’t outrun that radio!”
K-9 Academy Graduation
After 10 weeks of intensive training, our K-9 Academy graduates have officially completed the program. This milestone marks months of hard work, discipline, and dedication.
Each K-9 and handler faced countless challenges throughout this course, mastering complex skills including obedience, tracking, narcotics and explosives detection, and real-world apprehension scenarios. These teams demonstrated outstanding focus and professionalism, proving their readiness to serve and protect their communities.
Our instructors, led by Lt. Bryant Arrington, take great pride in ensuring that every graduate leaves the academy prepared for the realities of law enforcement service.
