The Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office continues to demonstrate its commitment to service both within the community and beyond. From honoring military leadership and supporting local students to raising funds for Special Olympics, deputies and cadets are working together to strengthen connections and make a meaningful impact across Culpeper County.
Honor Guard Presents the United States Colors
What an honor to be asked to be a small part of the pinning ceremony for the United States Army’s newest one-star general. General Jodi Jones-Smith was promoted earlier this year, and her official ceremony was held last night in Winchester. Our Honor Guard and Sheriff Chilton were guests, and the team had the privilege of presenting our nation’s colors during the National Anthem. General Jones-Smith is the wife of Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Ron Kesner. Deputy Kesner has helped our agency revamp our TRIAD program for our senior community. Power Pack Event
Food insecurity is a hidden struggle in our local community. However, our CCSO Cadets are actively stepping up to make a tangible difference. This week, they participated in a local Power Pack Event, working alongside our School Resource Officers to assemble essential meals for local elementary school children who face food insecurity at home. Together, the team packed enough bags to completely feed 132 children for an entire month. Many students cannot focus on their education if they are constantly worried about their next meal. Initiatives like this reflect our core agency values of Integrity, Respect, Service, and Compassion. We are incredibly proud of our cadets for serving their peers and helping ensure no child in Culpeper goes hungry.
Dine with a Deputy
The Culpeper community showed up in a big way to support the Special Olympics. Last week’s Dine with a Deputy event at Country Cookin was a record-breaking success for the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office. Thanks to the community’s incredible generosity, the event raised $4,438 for Area 17 Special Olympics. “This was by far the busiest night we have ever had since starting this. At one point, we had lines out the door without a single seat available,” said Chief Deputy Chad McKnight. The office also recognized the dedication of its CCSO Cadets, who worked nonstop throughout the evening helping serve food and clear tables. The Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere thanks to the citizens who came out to support the cause, the hardworking staff who made the event possible, and the team at Country Cookin’ for their partnership.
