The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office recently held its biannual Pinning and Awards Ceremony, recognizing the dedication, professionalism, and service of its deputies, civilian staff, and community partners.
During the ceremony, two new deputies were officially pinned as they began their careers in law enforcement, while four employees, including two deputies and two civilian staff members, were promoted in recognition of their leadership and commitment to the agency.
The Sheriff’s Office also presented a variety of awards honoring exceptional service, including Deputy of the Quarter, Meritorious Service, Top Gun, Sheriff’s, Appreciation, Recognition, and Sponsor Awards.
One of the ceremony’s most meaningful moments came as deputies involved in the homicide investigation of Katlyn Lyon Montgomery were recognized by her family. Katlyn’s mother, Crystal Sale, and other family members presented the deputies with commemorative plaques and expressed their gratitude for the compassion, professionalism, and dedication shown throughout the investigation.
The ceremony also featured guest speaker Rachel Rodgers, a co-responder with Horizon Behavioral Health, who spoke about the challenges law enforcement officers face, the importance of supporting their well-being, and the lasting impact they have on the communities they serve.
