The King George County Sheriff’s Office recently celebrated Deputy Vanatta and K-9 Haze for completing their training and becoming the agency’s first single-purpose explosives detection K-9 team.
Haze, a 5-year-old female Dutch Shepherd, was surrendered to the King George Animal Shelter in January. After her potential was recognized, training quickly began to prepare her for service as a law enforcement canine.
Haze and Deputy Vanatta earned their explosives detection certification on August 26, fittingly recognized as National Dog Day.
