The Danville Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize two recent groups of graduates from the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy.
Sgt. J.R. Phelps and Sgt. S.C. Hamlett successfully completed the Basic Law Enforcement “Option 6” School, expanding their certifications beyond their previous roles as Jail, Court, and Civil Deputies. Both are longtime members of the Danville Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. Phelps serves as a supervisor in the Transportation Division, while Sgt. Hamlett supervises the Civil Services (Court) Division.
In addition, three new deputies – Deputy J.A. Lawson, Deputy B.S. Foster, and L.A. Strange – graduated from Class #42 of the Academy’s 12-week training program, earning their certifications as Jail, Court, and Civil Process Officers. Deputy Foster was recognized as the top performer in the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, receiving a gold medal for his achievement. All three will begin their assignments at the Danville City Jail.
