The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office had a blast at the My Future 757 Career Day, giving kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Virginia a hands-on look at the work we do to serve and protect our community. We set up a fingerprinting station where the kids got to try their hand at taking prints the old-fashioned way. It was a fun and educational way to teach them how deputies document and process fingerprints, while also showing how unique every individual print truly is.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was introducing our four-legged partner, drug detection K-9 Merlin! The students loved watching Merlin in action as he demonstrated how his powerful nose helps deputies locate illegal substances. It was an exciting and eye-opening way to show the teamwork between K-9s and their handlers.
We were proud to share work with the next generation, and we’re grateful to all the kids and staff who made this day so memorable!
