Saturday brought a day of fun, fellowship, and food as the community gathered for Gillfield Baptist Church’s annual Community Day. The event, held under sunny skies, brought together residents, local leaders, and service providers for a day filled with unity and support.
Representing the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office were Lieutenant Christopher Bailey and Sergeant Derrick Fontenot, who engaged with attendees and shared the agency’s commitment to public safety and community partnership.
They were joined by several other agencies and organizations, including the Petersburg Department of Social Services, Petersburg Fire Department, and Petersburg Police Department among others. Each group provided valuable information, resources, and services to community members while strengthening bonds between local agencies and the citizens they serve.
“Community events like this are the foundation of trust between law enforcement and the people we serve,” said Sheriff Vanessa R. Crawford. “It’s not just about being present — it’s about being a partner, a neighbor, and a source of support. The Petersburg Sheriff’s Office is proud to stand alongside our community and the organizations that make days like this possible.”
