Supporting Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

On Saturday, September 13th, the Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office’s newly formed Bike Safety Team participated in an event for health and safety. The team, consisting of Lt. D. Parrish, Sgt. T. Webster, and Deputy J. Mullins, set up a station to help children learn how to ride safely and fix their bicycles. This program is new to our department, and the event was a success.

Many children stopped by and were taught how to properly wear their helmet while also learning how to ride a bike. The children were also shown how to fix flat tires, put chains back on, and how to properly use the brakes on the bicycles. The children were given sheets on safe riding practices, reflectors for their helmets, and helmets were given to children that could not afford one.
