Faith and public service came together in Arlington at the Good News Global Prayer Breakfast, held at the Wilson Boulevard Christian Church in support of the ministry at the Arlington County Detention Facility led by Chaplain Michele Reynolds. With the theme “It Takes a Village to Make a Successful Returning Citizen,” the event gathered faith leaders, community members, and staff from the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office to celebrate the role of faith in fostering hope and transformation behind the walls of correctional institutions.
Sheriff José Quiroz reflected on the power of faith-based partnerships in shaping a safer, more humane environment, noting that “Accountability and mercy are not opposites – they are partners. Security sets the boundary, but faith gives the future.” Sheriff Quiroz highlighted recent initiatives at the detention facility including expanded medical care, recovery programs, and family connection efforts that create the conditions where faith can thrive. Chaplain Reynolds was recognized for her compassionate leadership and inclusive approach, coordinating multi-faith services, counseling, and pastoral care for both residents and staff. Her work, supported by Good News Global’s ministry model, continues to remind all that redemption and renewal are possible for every person.
