Sheriff Shuler and the members of the Smyth County Sheriff’s Office joined together again this year to raise funds for the Santa’s Elves Program at the Smyth County Department of Social Services. The Sheriff allows his staff to grow and keep their beards in exchange for a donation to Santa’s Elves. These funds provide food, clothing, and toys for children in need this Christmas in Smyth County.
Sheriff Shuler commends his staff for their continued support of this effort, now in its fifth year. The Sheriff’s Office also appreciates the support of citizens who have embraced the idea of deputies with beards. This year, the agency raised $3,250. “It’s the love for our children that makes it all worthwhile.”
