The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) recently hosted “Hugs of Hope,” a holiday family engagement program that provided individuals in custody the opportunity to visit with their children in a structured, supportive, and secure environment. Participants must have no major disciplinary action reports, compliance with any treatment plans and successful completion of a Parenting Program prior to the event, among other criteria. The program reflects ACSO’s ongoing commitment to strengthening family connections and supporting positive outcomes through rehabilitation and reentry-focused initiatives.
The event was made possible through the generous support of community partners. The Salvation Army assisted with coordination and support for participating families and provided gifts for all children in attendance. Offender Aid and Restoration (OAR) donated gift cards for teenage participants, ensuring meaningful and age-appropriate holiday support. Additionally, the Friends of the Arlington Library contributed donated books, promoting literacy and shared family experiences during the holiday season. ACSO is grateful for the continued collaboration of its community partners and remains committed to programs that support children, strengthen families, and reinforce hope and connection within correctional settings.
