Martinsville Sheriff Steve Draper recently assisted in pinning the eagle insignia on Chief Chad Rhoads as he assumed the role of Chief of Police for the City of Martinsville.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone in Chief Rhoads’ career, recognizing more than 25 years of dedicated service to the Martinsville Police Department and the community he serves. Throughout his career, Chief Rhoads has served at every level of the department, including Patrol Officer, Criminal Investigator, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief.
Chief Rhoads is a VACP Certified Law Enforcement Command Executive and holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice and Administrative Leadership from Averett University, where he also serves as an adjunct faculty member. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he honorably served as a cryptologic linguist prior to his law enforcement career.
Deputies from the Martinsville Sheriff’s Office were present for the ceremony, reflecting the strong partnership between the Sheriff’s Office and the Martinsville Police Department. Sheriff Draper expressed confidence in Chief Rhoads’ leadership and his continued commitment to professionalism, accountability, and public safety.
