The Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office recently took part in two meaningful community efforts, continuing its commitment to service both on and off duty.
Sheriff Chilton, along with members of the command staff, partnered with Lights by Knight, led by owner Kyle Knight and his staff, to complete the electrical work for a home being built through Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that builds homes and selects an owner for an affordable mortgage through a strong selection process. For this particular home, the field of possible recipients has been narrowed from 103 applicants down to just three.
The Sheriff’s Office shared its appreciation for Kyle and the team at Lights by Knight for stepping in to support such a worthy cause. Lights by Knight is a local full-service electrical company specializing in custom projects, homes, and generator systems.
In true Culpeper fashion, the day also came with a little humor, as the office noted that Sheriff Chilton was the only one who gave blood that day, jokingly inviting anyone to “clown him for his busted-up knuckles.”
The spirit of community support continued Friday night as the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office hit the court for its annual Teachers vs. Law Enforcement Basketball Showdown.
Thanks to an amazing turnout and the generosity of those in attendance, all proceeds raised will directly support local Sheriff’s Office community outreach programs.
Whether the crowd was cheering for Culpeper deputies, guest officers from CPD and VSP, or their favorite Culpeper teachers, the real winner of the night was the community.
