On May 30, 2014, Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman presented Mr. Austin D. McClure of Meadowview, VA, with a $1,000 scholarship check from the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute Scholarship Program. The VSI Program was established to provide an opportunity for young students across Virginia to pursue an educational curriculum in law enforcement or criminal justice while attending a Virginia college or university. Mr. McClure will attend Radford University. “Austin is a very deserving young man who I feel will excel in the field of law enforcement,” stated Sheriff Newman.
