The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office is celebrating a decade of dominance at the “Special Olympics Virginia Dulles Plane Pull” at Dulles International Airport. On September 17, 2016, the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office took first place in the competition for the tenth year in a row.
The “Dulles Day Festival & Plane Pull” is one of Special Olympics Virginia’s biggest fundraisers, pitting teams of 25 against one another to see who can pull the 186,000-pound airplane 12-feet the fastest.
This year’s event raised a record $325,000 for Special Olympics Virginia. All proceeds help the organization provide year-round training and athletic competition to more than 11,000 athletes of all ages. It is a cause close to Sheriff Jim O’Sullivan’s heart. Over the years, the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office has raised more than 150-thousand for Special Olympics Virginia.
