Elections were held across the Commonwealth yesterday, and, yes, there is a new sheriff in town – twenty-six in total!
Turnout was strong across the Commonwealth as the Virginians turned out in force to vote.
Sheriffs elections were held in many localities across Virginia in addition to elections for all the members of the House of Delegates and Senate of Virginia.
Congratulations to Virginia’s sheriffs who won re-election and to the sheriff candidates who won election last night.

The Virginia General Assembly changed power in both the House of Delegates with Democrats gaining six seats and a 55-45 seat majority in addition to the Senate where Democrats picked up 2 seats for a 21-19 majority. Democrats gathered in downtown Richmond to celebrate last night and will soon caucus to elect new leadership as they take the majority in both houses.
