Chief Deputy (Sheriff – Elect) Chan Bryant was sworn in on December 30th in the Albemarle County Circuit Court along with her full time staff.
Sheriff Harding says, “What a historical event. Chan Bryant is the only female supervisor in this agency’s history. She is now the first female Sheriff of Albemarle County, in the same year that we celebrate our 275th anniversary. The Sheriff’s Office was founded two years after Thomas Jefferson was born-1745. The event was held in the same court house where President Jefferson and President Monroe practiced law.”
