The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office sends prayers and support to the Henrico County Police Department and the Stanley Police Department after the deaths of Captain Don Lambert and Officer Nick Winum. The sheriff’s office would also like to share the good news of Deputy Travis Dillon being sworn in to the sheriff’s office. Additionally, Deputy Brad Elkins received a Shining Star award. Lastly, the sheriff’s office would like to warn community members of a phone scam where callers pose as representatives of Apple or Amazon.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Honors Fallen Law Enforcement Officers

The Office of the Sheriff sends prayers to the departments and families of two law enforcement members who lost their lives last week.

The Henrico County Police Department announced that a pedestrian who was struck by a hit-and-run driver was their own, Captain Don Lambert.

The Town of Stanley Police Department released a statement detailing the shooting of Officer D. J. “Nick” Winum after an armed conflict.

For several days, The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office will be wearing their mourning band badge shrouds in memory and honor of these gentlemen.

Franklin County Sheriff Overton Gives Shining Star Award to Deputy Elkins

Deputy Brad Elkins has been awarded the Shining Star Award from Sheriff Bill Overton.

Dispatched to a call several weeks ago, Deputy Elkins arrived on scene to discover a resident with life threatening issues. Elkins administered first aid care until local EMS arrived. The resident was transported to the hospital and lived.

Thanks you, Deputy Elkins, for being observant and helpful.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Swore in Deputy Travis Dillon

Recently, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office swore in a new deputy. Travis Dillon joins the Office of the Sheriff. Deputy Dillon was sworn in by Clerk of Court Teresa Brown. The pinning of his badge was done by Captain Ken Holland.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Amazon and Apple Scam Calls

We have received several calls concerning residents receiving scam calls from people posing as representatives of either Apple or Amazon. The scammer attempts to get monies from the resident with a series of stories concerning purchases.
