This past week the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit provided outstanding service to the community. The Sheriff’s Office reported that K-9 Deputy Ghost and his partner, Deputy Octaviano, responded to a suspicious person with a firearm complaint. K-9 Ghost located a .40 caliber pistol and two loaded magazines in the woods. This led to a search warrant of the suspect’s residence, where Sheriff’s Office Investigators recovered nine (9) additional illegally possessed firearms. The suspect was arrested on charges of illegally possessing firearms by a convicted felon. This was the suspect’s second arrest for illegally possessing firearms.
On February 9, 2023, K-9 Saber and Sergeant Schultz assisted a neighboring jurisdiction with an illegal drug investigation. K-9 Deputy Saber alerted on the suspect’s vehicle, and illegal narcotics were found. This led to investigators obtaining a search warrant for a residence where two pounds of suspected crystal methamphetamine were seized along with a large quantity of cash. Charges are pending in that investigation.
Also, K-9 Deputy Bado and Deputy Singleton tracked a suspect that ran from a traffic stop in the Tabb area of York County. During the lengthy track, Bado found the suspect’s jacket along with several packets of suspected illegal narcotics. Upon searching the vehicle, they located scales, cocaine, various pills, and over $3000 in cash. As a direct result of K-9 Bado’s work, Daesean Jamar Sean is currently incarcerated at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. He was charged with Obstruction of Justice, Possession of Schedule I or II narcotics with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Scheduled IV Narcotic, Attempted Burglary of a Residence, DWI Drugs 1st Offense, and Driving with a Revoked Operator’s License.
Sheriff Montgomery is proud of the K-9 teams’ services to the community. He said, “This is yet another example of the outstanding service that the K-9 Unit provides to the citizens and businesses in York County and the City of Poquoson.”
