Norfolk Sheriff’s Office to Donate Turkeys For Thanksgiving

On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Sheriff Joe Baron and Norfolk Sheriff’s Office personnel gathered at the loading dock outside the Norfolk City Jail to load vehicles to deliver Thanksgiving dinner to those who may need a helping hand this holiday season.

Personnel delivered 100 turkeys, 50 turkey breasts, and a large variety of sides to a pre-determined list of citizens, churches, and non-profit agencies throughout the City of Norfolk.

It is the mission of the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office to make a positive difference in the lives of others as far as we can reach and one of the ways we can do that is through service to our community. For more than 10 years, the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office has been donating and delivering turkeys during the holiday season.

The sponsors for this event include the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation, Summit Foods, Keefe, Little Lily Ministries, and Thomas Mayhew.

Public Safety Faith and Blue Harvest Festival

On Sunday, November 19, 2023, area public safety agencies came together to host the 2023 Faith and Blue Harvest Festival. The event brought together personnel from the Old Dominion University Police Department, Norfolk Sheriff’s Office, Regent University Police Department, Norfolk Police Department, the Norfolk Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Urban Renewal Center for an afternoon filled with family fun.

The 2023 Faith and Blue Fall Festival featured a DJ, static public safety displays, refreshments, vendors, games, giveaways, and more! The event hosted a “stuff the cruiser” event to collect toiletry items to be donated to the Urban Renewal Center.
