Supporting Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

Since my retirement, as some of you are aware, I have managed to stay as busy/active as when I was sheriff. The majority of my time, probably 90%, has been in the arena of Internet safety education for our youth with the Safe Surfin Foundation. This effort, as some of you are aware, is directly related to my supervision of the Congressionally funded Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force assigned to the Bedford County (VA) Sheriff’s Office for 21 years.

As a result of the two decades in this arena the Cyber SWAT (Safety While Accessing Technology), Peer 2 Peer Program (c)  was developed and recognized at the Global Sustainability Security Technology Network at the Pontifical Academy of Science at the Vatican in 2019 as a paradigm shift in equipping young citizens in cyberspace in the fight against modern-day slavery, human trafficking, child sex slavery, and cyberbullying.

Our most recent efforts have resulted in the State of West Virginia adopting a bill, the first in the country and unanimously approved by both their Senate and House, that requires mandatory Internet safety education to be taught in their public schools, view the image gallery below.
