Newport News Sheriff Gabe Morgan is the new chairman of the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) Advisory Board. He was voted chairman at the board meeting on April 3.
The NIC gives training, technical assistance, and information services to corrections facilities nationwide. The board provides industry insight, leadership, and recommendations to the NIC and guidance to public policymakers to further public safety.
Sheriff Morgan brings years of expertise to this important role. He is committed to making a difference in all areas of corrections, not only here in Newport News but across the country. He previously served as the Board’s vice chairman. The 16-member panel is appointed by the U.S. Attorney General.
