The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Cpl. Camardi and K9 Logan have achieved a significant milestone in their service to the community. K9 Logan has been officially certified by the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) in Electronics Detection after successfully completing the rigorous electronic detection trials.
This certification is especially noteworthy as K9 Logan, alongside one other dog from Fairfax, VA, are the first two canines in the Commonwealth of Virginia to hold this prestigious certification. Furthermore, K9 Logan has become the first dog in the Commonwealth to achieve dual certification from the USPCA in both Narcotics Detection and Electronics Detection within Region 3.
In July, the Arlington County Police Department & FBI Joint Taskforce requested the expertise of Cpl. Camardi and K9 Logan for a critical operation involving a search warrant. The operation targeted a subject under investigation for indecent liberties with a minor and the use of electronic equipment. As the only regional dog specializing in locating electronic equipment, K9 Logan played a crucial role in the search. The suspect was successfully apprehended and transported to Booking without incident.
“This certification is a testament to the dedication and hard work of Cpl. Camardi and K9 Logan,” said Sheriff Jose Quiroz. “Their commitment to excellence ensures that we are at the forefront of utilizing specialized canine capabilities to protect our community. The success of the recent operation is just one example of how their skills are making a real difference.”
The USPCA is recognized as the leading authority in the certification of law enforcement service dogs across the nation, ensuring that canine teams meet the highest standards in their fields of specialization. Region 3, encompassing Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia, is one of the largest and most active regions in the association, making this certification even more commendable.
Cpl. Camardi and K9 Logan’s achievement reflects the Arlington County Sheriff Office’s ongoing commitment to excellence in law enforcement and public safety. Their dual certification enhances their ability to conduct thorough investigations, particularly in the detection of electronic devices and narcotics, which are often critical in modern criminal investigations.
