For the fifth consecutive year and the seventh time in nine years, the Newport News Sheriff’s Office has been recognized as a Best for Vets Employer by the Military Times, acknowledging its commitment to veterans, reservists, and their families.
The NNSO is the only Virginia law enforcement agency to make the 2024 Best for Vets list and one of only three in the country.
Like Sheriff Gabe Morgan, an Army veteran, more than four dozen of NNSO’s deputy sheriffs and civilians honorably served their country; several staff members still serve in the National Guard and Reserves.
The Best for Vets survey looked at our efforts to recruit military-connected personnel and the policies we have to help them succeed in their civilian careers. The NNSO values men and women who want to make a difference as they transition from military service.
Hampton Roads is a military community. Many men and women in uniform decide it’s a great place to live and work after completing their service.
“Veterans have many qualities that make them a good fit to join Team NNSO. We’re committed to hiring veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses,” Sheriff Morgan stated. “We welcome their applications for the position of deputy sheriff.
